My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Concha is an adorable, playful, gentle, friendly and active, seven-year-old female blue Chinchilla with incredibly soft fur looking for a loving guardian.
Chinchillas have a diet of mostly Timothy hay, pellets, fresh water and an occasional foraging treat. Concha loves to be treated with a tiny dried banana chip a day. She loves to take a dust bath three times a week and she rolls and somersaults in her dust. She also loves music and when her foster dad plays his guitar for her.
Chinchillas can be long-term companions living on average 15 to 22 years. Native to the Andes mountains of northern Chile, Chinchillas are agile and able to jump around mountain peaks and their dense fur protects them from the cold. That is why they need a large multi-level cage to jump from ledge to ledge.
Chinchillas are actually an endangered species in the wild because they were hunted for their fur. They were brought to America to make fur coats and the breeders were so enamored with how sweet and adorable they were that they began keeping them as pets.
Concha is currently being fostered in Chicago. To meet and possibly adopt her, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ and follow up by e-mailing friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to meet her.
Her adoption fee of $175 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits and includes her entire set-up of a large multi-level cage, pellets, hay, water bottle, treats and chew toys, food bowl, exercise wheel, hidey hut, dust bath, and carrying case - everything you need to care for her.
