Before OMD: Stray. Shelter. Pictures and video sent to us. We said yes. He's been in his OMD foster home ever since.
Medical deets: Diagnosed with mid-grade heart murmur (doesn't affect his quality of life one bit!), arthritis in back knees (has a bit of a "toy soldier" walk), and two tiny bladder stones seen via x-ray. We had a dental done to take care of an abscess and infection in his mouth and started him on Rx food to dissolve the stones (our vet suspects they will pass on their own). He's still got some arthritis and lumps and bumps, because, hey, he's a senior...but he sure as heck doesn't know it.
Energy Level: Low-medium
Snuggliness: Low. He is a great companion and he loves to be with you but he doesn't need to smother you. He likes to keep a watchful eye on his humans, but doesn’t necessarily want or need to snuggle up.
Underwater counterpart: A clam. He's happy.
Descriptors: Happy. Silly. Bossy. Smart. Confident.
If he was a sitcom character: Seinfeld's Kramer. He's got his fun energy. Plus he’s confident, spunky, and always bursting onto the scene and announcing his presence.
Moonlights as: The Mayor. He’s a real people person who has the potential to be kinda bossy, but in a lovable leader kind of way.
What he loves most: An occasional zoom through the backyard. Nylabones. Mealtime and snackies. Fireside naps. Sunbathing. Car rides. Dog beds (for laying in, suckling and biting). Sharing his opinion (with his low and gruff silly bark).
Not a fan of: Sharing his meals. He prefers to eat solo - table for one, please.
Least favorite gym workout: The Stairmaster. Going up is okay, but he’s not willing to walk down so someone will need to give him a lift.
Kids: 10+ please. He loves littles but kiddos need to be at an age where they respect boundaries and understand Kevin should be alone while eating.
Dogs: Yes, lives with multiple other dogs in foster. He does well, but can be a bit overwhelming and bossy at times and he will bark when he wants to play, which can be annoying to some dog friends.
Cats: Yes but...cats should be dog-savvy and confident because he will make it his mission to buddy up to the resident cat.
House trained: Yes
Crate trained: He’s more of a gate guy.
