Frieda and her siblings, Roberta and Fritz, came to us from Blooming Prairie on 5/1/21. They were born in Nov, 2021. Frieda is a great kitten who is a tad shy when she first meets you, but she warms up after she get comfortable with you and her surroundings. She has tested neg for feline leukemia/FIV, is spayed and is current on shots/dewormings. We are looking for an indoor only home for Frieda. Her adoption fee is sponsored. A pet porter is required at the time of adoption and you must be 21 to adopt from MCHS. To meet Frieda or any of our other cats, go to mchs.rescuegroups.org and complete and submit our online application. We will review and get in touch with you. Our address is 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN. For dogs, there is an application form that needs to be completed a few days ahead of time, before we are able to release an animal. We review applications to make sure there is a compatible fit between adoptive home and the characteristics of the animal. Adoption fees for dogs range from $95 to $150

Go meet their pets

Regular animal viewing hours are at the Shelter on Tuesdays from 4:30PM to 6PM, and Sundays from 2PM to 4PM. Other days/times can be arranaged by appointment.

The Mower County Humane Society is run entirely volunteers. The group strives to take in homeless and stray dogs and cats and place them into responsible, lifelong homes.
NOTE: The Shelter address does not register correctly on Google maps. Our Shelter is east of the Charter cable office in Austin MN. This is off of Hwy 218 south - our shelter is east of the highway just off the eastern tip of Oakland Avenue. The official address is 101 22nd Street SE
