Meet one of the newest CRT puppies - Bindi! Bindi is an Australian name meaning "butterfly". This is the perfect name for this girl and she flitters around like a beautiful butterfly!

In mid May, we received a call asking if we would be willing to help with a hoarding situation in the Dallas area where there were over 40 Chihuahuas. CRT responded to that call by rescuing several Chihuahuas of all ages. Bindi was one of the younger Chihuahuas we rescued. She is an adorable young puppy. Bindi is scheduled to complete her vet work in late June and will be ready for adoption after that is complete. We are taking early applications now.

Bindi is an active and fun puppy! She loves to play with the lab mix in her foster home. She will play non-stop until she has to crash for a nap. One of her favorite games is hide and seek. She will strategically hide under the bed and make little noises until her lab sister comes to find her. Then she will stick her head out, engage in play, and off they go again! It is such a delight to watch the joy in this girl. Bindi also enjoys toys. Her favorites are the squeaky toys. Bindi will share her toys, or will entertain herself with toys by tossing them a few feet away and then pouncing on them! Bindi loves being outside. She delights in doing zoomies around the yard and explores every inch of the yard.

Bindi adores her family. Bindi is a little shy and cautious when she first meets you. We think she was not socialized much in her original home, but she is gaining confidence quickly! Bindi warms up quickly and is very friendly. She loves to cuddle. Her routine is to play hard, then run over to you to get love and snuggles. She loves it when you hold her, roll her onto her back (like a baby) and give her belly rubs! Then it is quickly back to playing. Then back for more snuggles! Her joyful spirit makes us smile.

Our vet estimates that Bindi is 4 - 5 months old. She is about 6 pounds, and may grow another pound or so. Bindi has a beautiful tri-color coat - dark chocolate, tan and white. We love her one ear up and one ear down look! She also has amazing brown eyes. Being a puppy, Bindi would enjoy another small dog to grow up with. (Applications will not be considered where she would be the only dog). She also needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Bindi does alert when she hears new noises. For that reason, we do not believe she would be a good fit in an apartment. Bindi would be great in a home where there was a great deal of activity and people were home a lot. There are no children in her foster home, but we believe she would do great with older mature children over the age of 10.

Bindi is very smart. She is a puppy and is learning every day. Her family has kept her on a regular schedule and she is almost potty trained. She also has learned to "sit". We are also teaching her "stay". Bindi is crate trained and will sleep in her crate throughout the night. We are waiting to complete her puppy shots before beginning leash training (it is not safe to take puppies onto walking areas until they are completely vaccinated).

Bindi is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Bindi will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed in late June, and she will then be ready for adoption.

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $378.88 adoption donation required ($350 adoption donation and $28.88 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
