My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"I want a pittiepotamus for Christmas
Only a pittiepotamus will do
Don't want an xbox, no overpriced lego toys
I want a pittiepotamus to snuggle with and enjoy"

Our most favorite house hippo of them all, sweet Shellie, has been waiting and waiting for a couch to call her very own for the holidays. Shellie is a volunteer super fav and our team can't say enough great things about her.

"Shellie is a loving and compassionate dog that will be your best friend. She doesn’t ask for much but will give you her entire heart! If you are looking for a best friend, Shellie is your girl!" -Priyah

"Shellie doesn’t need to hear to communicate. She loves with her whole giant self and has the sweetest personality. She is what they mean by a dog is a person’s best friend!" -Krista

Two year old Shellie has captured the hearts of those of us here at CPR and we just can't figure out why she's been waiting for her people for the last 5 months. Not that we mind... her baby duck soft meat head is the perfect resting place for a cheek, and she's all about big time snuggz, all day every day. She'll even let you decide if you want to be the big spoon or the little spoon as you cozy up to watch cheesy Christmas movies. Shellie is a special needs gal because she's deaf, but truly her disability doesn't stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. On the contrary, our girl never gets freaked out by thunder or fireworks, and certainly won't pay Santa any mind when he comes crashing down your chimney. No one is likely to hear him over her snoring anyhow. Shellie lives her best hippo life at 85lbs (we blame covid), and while she's great with kids of all ages, you're definitely feeling that junk in the trunk when she tries to claim a spot on your lap - littlest littles beware. She's fully house trained, is cool to chill uncrated while you're away, and does great with other calm and collected doggos. She'd also be a-ok with being your one and only 4 legged love. Shellie's single and ready to mingle, and is really hoping to find herself an awesome home for the holidays. Who can resist a pittiepotamus for Christmas? Fill out an app and reach out to your adoption coordinator for more info or to FaceTime with Shellie and her foster mom.

Sugarplums danced in Shellie's head in hopes of finding her forever home for the holidays. In celebration of helping every dog find a Home for the Holidays, this sweet CPR doggy has a special adoption fee of $300! If you aren't able to adopt at this time, won't you please share and help us find Shellie a home of her own?

Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on-site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event!

The adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog has tested negative for heartworms.

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 12pm-2pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.
