My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or in the North / Central Texas area.

NAME: Andy
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: About 7 years
WEIGHT: About 8 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be Fine With children (10 years and older)

Introducing Andy! This adorable, laid back boy loves everything and everyone. We love his sweet personality, and we think you will too!

Andy has been through a tough situation over the last 45 days. His human dad passed away and animal control seized him and the other 10 Chihuahuas living in the home in North Carolina. They reached out to Chihuahua Rescue & Transport (CRT) for help and we agreed to take all 11 Chihuahuas. Four of them stayed with the SE region (in North Carolina) and our volunteers transported the other seven back to Dallas. They have all finished their vet work and ready to find their forever homes.

Andy is a super easy-going dog. He currently lives with both small and large dogs and fits right into the pack. To date, we have not really seen him playing with toys.

Andy absolutely loves his humans! He also enjoys meeting new people who come to visit. He likes to be in the same room with his family. Andy is a champion cuddler, and will spend hours on your lap asking for belly rubs and snuggling with you. He is the sweetest, gentlest little guy.

Our vet estimates that Andy is about 7 years old. He weighs 8.3 pounds, is fully grown. Andy has a beautiful black and tan medium length coat. He has deep brown eyes. And his ears perk up when you call his name. Along with all his standard vet work, CRT has given Andy a dental and he teeth are now in great shape!

Andy fits into any situation quickly. We think he would enjoy another small dog as a buddy, but we also think he would do fine as an only dog as long as his family was around alot and gave him lots of love. He would be great for a work at home family! Andy needs a family who can check on him every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). He hasn’t been around children, but we think he would do well in a home with older, mature children (10 and older).

Andy learns quickly. He is potty trained for the most part. To continue this progress his new family will need to keep him on a consistent routine. Andy loves sleeping in bed with his humans. He loves to lay on his back when he sleeps and will sleep soundly through the night.

This guy is so sweet and we are excited to help him find his forever home!

Andy is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Andy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed in late February, and he will then be ready for adoption.

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $324.75 adoption donation required ($300 adoption donation and $24.75 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
