My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Ericka is a 6 year old little chihuahua that was rescued from a hoarder back in Texas.  She not only had too many dogs but there was a witness of the abuse to Ericka in particular. Ericka is an itty bitty thing at just 6 pounds!

Once in rescue it was discovered that Ericka was heart worm positive and in desperate need of a dental.  Her treatment is complete and she had her dental with many teeth removed.  She has resumed hard kibble without any issues and will need to remain on monthly heart worm preventative for life.

Ericka loves people so much and wants to get right in your face for kisses.  She always appears to be smiling when you talk to her and she stands right up in her back legs to greet you!  We cannot imagine who in the world would want to hurt this precious soul! She is obviously very forgiving of her past and wants nothing more then to be loved by humans.

Ericka is pretty submissive and eager to please. She loves sitting on the couch with you and being snuggled close.  She does urinate a little when being picked up but I’m sure that’s a result of her past trauma.  Otherwise she is honestly the sweetest girl in the world!

Ericka is fostered with other dogs in her foster home and she can be a bit of a bully to “weaker” females then her.  She doesn’t fight but will growl and try not to let them interfere with the love she is getting from her human.  She appears better with males.  She is not fostered with cats but we can’t imagine that would be an issue as most likely they are bigger then her anyways!

Ericka is not 100 percent housebroken. She is doing amazing with a doggy door and a fenced yard and will also use pee pads if needed.  We have seen her have a few accidents as well especially when she first arrived and of course in the cold and the rain.

Ericka is crate trained and doesn’t make a peep inside.  She does like to sleep in bed with her foster mom but will get up to use the bathroom so she needs access to a pee pad if she sleeps with you.  She is not leash trained and really doesn’t want to be.  If you don’t have a fence we ask that you set up an x-pen for potty breaks in the yard and that will be expected before adoption.  She has only known a fenced yard and we want her to feel happy and comfortable in her new home.

Ericka has been around a 9 year old child and loved her but due to her size and past abuse we will not be placing her with young children or large breed dogs.

If you think the is beautiful girl is a match for you please apply!  She is a total lover and will make someone so happy!

Ericka is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and flea/worm treated.  Her adoption fee is $400
