My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Bon Bon is a one year old 23 pound mixed breed.  Her owners said husky chihuahua mix but we think maybe they said that based on her beautiful blue eyes.  She is built and acts more like a Corgi so we are going with that but it is just a guess.  She came to us from Texas as an owner surrender when she ended up pregnant!  She was a wonderful mama to 6 beautiful puppies who have since been adopted.

When Bon Bon went in for her spay she was found to be heartworm positive hence why she did not go up for adoption when her pups did.  She has since been treated and is otherwise a healthy girl.  Bon Bon will need to remain on heartworm preventative for her lifetime.

Bon Bon is a great dog.  She is very sensitive and very submissive. She can be nervous however with any kind of change to her routine or new surroundings. Bon Bon loves other young playful dogs but it does take her a couple days to feel safe and want to play. She can be very active and playful when she has a best friend but when she is done she settles nicely as well.  She loves her foster mom very much!  She is often times found at her feet or curled up on the couch next to her and she sleeps in bed with her every night. She is a loyal dog and a wonderful watch dog.  Bon Bon is very alert to her surroundings and knows exactly what goes on in the neighborhood.  She does have a big bark and would not be appropriate for apartment life.  Bon Bon would do best in a quieter home with a fully fenced yard (no invisible fences).  She is afraid of yelling even if its an excited yell, she is terrified of storms and if she thinks for one minute she is in trouble she runs for her life.  For this reason we don’t think living full time with kids under 10 would be a great match but visiting kids would be okay as she has been around a soft spoken 9 year old child and loved her.

Bon Bon is working on leash training and she is doing better but she panics when a car passes or an airplane goes by so she must have a martingale collar on when she leaves her yard.  She is also improving in the car but still drools and shakes still.  Basically Bon Bon is a homebody who loves the safety of her things and the family she loves.  She doesn’t care to be a world traveler as she makes her family her whole world and that is good enough!  She is crate trained for short periods but she does howl if its been a while or she has to go to the bathroom.  She is housebroken with a doggy door and fully fenced yard in her foster home but we do always say to expect accidents with a new home and new routine.  She has not been around cats so that would have to be tested on a home visit.

If you have a quiet home and would love to make this girl a part of your family please apply.  She is absolutely gorgeous, the perfect size and so loving!!  She is a good listener, she is smart and food motivated.  We can guess she was not socialized as a young pup which is why she is so nervous now but with love and patience she gets better every day.  We love her very much and want her to get the perfect home for her!

Bon Bon is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and flea/worm treated.  Her adoption fee is $400
