My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet John Casey (goes by Casey) This is one of the harder profiles to write because Casey has been loved and cherished since just a puppy. The owners of this handsome boy have fallen on hard times and have surrendered their beloved boy because they'd rather he find a stable home versus living in a shelter uncertain when they could come back for him. It's a tough choice, but they put Casey's future before their own. It is our hope that we can find Casey a family that loves him as much as they do. We hope this day comes soon because Casey is just about perfect. Casey is two years old. He looks mostly like a lanky Labrador retriever, but he could be a mix. He is one of the most gorgeous dogs we've seen. His coat is a glossy black, his eyes are bright and intelligent and his build is a sleek 47 lbs. Casey loves people! He's outgoing, social and friendly. He loves playing fetch or tug-of-war. He also loves chasing bubbles! Casey is incredibly smart. He's been taught how to sit, lay, fetch, crawl, shake and speak. He's house-trained. He's also crate-trained. Casey loves to snuggle with his people and curl up next to you. Casey has a lot of young energy. He'll make for an excellent hiking or running buddy, and will do best with an active person or family. Casey is loyal to his family. He's learning not to jump when he gets excited, but he just loves being in the mix and being with his people. Casey tolerates cats and will try to play with them. He's a happy-go-lucky young dog. He does not seem to like other dogs, so he will be adopted to a family without them. Casey loves Rachel Ray's just six dog food. He takes hemp allergy aid (which is very reasonable) and he comes with his cot, crate and a lifetime warranty of indestructible toys. This boy has been loved so much. He is an absolutely incredible dog. Casey is doing okay at the shelter, but we can tell he misses his home and his former life. If you are wanting to open your heart and home to give Casey a loving life, get your application in. You will not find a better boy. If interested in Casey, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoptions and meet and greets are being scheduled by appointment only. Please call our office, email us or complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can.
