Skittles is a Maltese mix around 10 years old and weighs 9 pounds,  Skittles was a stray found in deplorable condition near West Palm Beach. Being a stray, we have no way of knowing how long he was on his own, so he came to SCMR in rough shape. His nails were so long we've had to trim them a little at a time and he had lost over 50% of his fur.  

 

After being diagnosed by his veterinarian, Skittles has a low thyroid and yeast infection of the skin and ears which are now being treated by SCMR's fantastic vet team.  He'll retest in a month and any adjustments will be made.  He may need to be on thyroid medication for the rest of his life, but it is a small inexpensive pill taken once a day. That will be decided for the follow-up testing in a month.  The vet thinks he'll have a gorgeous coat in a few months and it has already started to grow back soft and white! 

 

Skittles is not house-trained but is working on it, wearing a belly-band inside the home.  There are no cats in the home to know how he would be around them.  He does get along with the doggie siblings in the home, having a good time, and loves people!!!

 

In spite of everything Skittles has been thru, he is such a happy guy. If you'd like to be this little man's new best friend, he will thank you with endless cuddles.

 

Skittles will be in Largo, Florida, getting the medical care and love he so deserves until his forever family takes him home.
