My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ONYX is a handsome fellow about two years old with black glossy fur. He was surrendered by his previous family due to their medical problems. We think maybe he was roughly treated there, since he has a strong aversion to being handled. He seems to have a fear of “hands” coming after him. He hates being confined and being told what to do, and will scratch and bite to make his displeasure known. He has the run of the main room now and his behavior has much improved. He is much less aggressive now. He gets along fine with other cats and even plays with toys sometimes.

Onyx needs an adopter with a strong personality, who will provide “tough love”. (And maybe a good pair of gloves.) No small children, please. Perhaps with time, a new home, and maybe some new feline companions, the memory of his previous life will fade, and a sweet personality will emerge. He may never be a lap cat, but he could be a wonderful companion once he realizes people can be trusted. He would make a good “guy’s cat”.
