My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**May 12th update: Elsie is a loving and wonderful dog who is social and always ready for an adventure. We have more information about her now because she has seen an ophthalmology specialist and she has settled into her foster home. Elsie's eyesight is very minimal. She was started on some medications that may be able to restore it somewhat, or it may stay the same for now.

She gets around really well and we have found that she may want to be an "only" and soak up all the loving because she can act a little protective of her foster mom (with other animals only). She even chased the cat one day which was a surprise. We wanted to update you on the new developments for sweet Elsie and add some new wonderful pictures from her foster family**

I am Elsie, and I am shy and sweet. I would like the chance to meet you if you are patient and OK with helping me to come out of my shell even more. If you take things slow with me, it will make me more comfortable and I will learn to trust you quickly.

I seem to have a little problem with my eyesight but I do just fine for myself. I am 5 years old and I have lots of fur – I only weigh about 40 lbs but you’d think it was more because of all my fluff! I appear to be a collie mix and I love to go for walks. At the shelter where I am living I don’t mess in my kennel so I am well on my way to housetraining.

I was taken out of a home that had lots of dogs, some children and not the greatest of conditions. The humans got evicted and that meant all us dogs too. I haven’t been around cats but I would try to be nice to them.

Because I’m a little skittish in new situations, I think I should not go to a home with very small children – older ones that can be patient with me should be just fine. I get worried easily so I need a calm setting with some loving humans.

If you are interested in meeting me or any of the great dogs at Lucky Pup Rescue, please fill out the application form.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
