My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Libby
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: Approximately 6 years
WEIGHT: Currently 4.5 pounds (needs to be about 6 pounds)
DOGS/CATS: Good with small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: All adult only or older, mature children (13 and older)

Meet Libby. This little girl is shy but sweet. She has the personality of a gentle southern woman.

Libby was found by a good Samaritan in a Dallas suburb. She had actually been wandering around the neighborhood for months. The neighbors noticed how thin she was and began feeding her. As they gained her trust, Libby begun hanging around more and more. Several neighbors joined together to try to find her owners, but with no success. She had no collar, no tags and no microchip. They then reached out to CRT to see if we could find a forever home for her, and we were happy to welcome her to our program.

Libby has a sweet and laid back personality. She is a bit shy when she first meets you. It may take her a few days to feel comfortable in her new home. But as she gets to know you and is confident that she is safe, her personality just shines. Libby loves being in the same room as you, and she wants to be part of the family activities. She LOVES soft blankets and can often be found cuddling under one of the many blankets in your home. If you can’t find her, just gently call her name and the blankets in your room might start wiggling! Libby has a quiet personality. She rarely barks. This girl is looking for a family who wants to spend a great deal of time together.

Libby gets along well with other small dogs. She is currently growing up in a foster home as an only dog. So she is loving all the attention. We think she would do well as an only dog, or maybe with another small sibling.

Our vet estimates that Libby is about 6 years old. She was thin when she was saved off the streets. Libby currently weighs 4.5 pounds, but our vet believes she should weigh about 6 pounds. We have her on a high nutrition diet working on safely getting her to her ideal weight. Libby has a beautiful tan coat with a which chest and black highlights on her face. And look into those deep brown eyes – captivating. We also love her big ears. She is very mellow and would fit well into a quiet home. She would love to live with a work at home family or a retired family that she could spend lots of time with her. Due to her tiny size and shy personality, we believe she would do best in an all adult home or a home with older, mature children (teens and above).

Libby is completely potty trained. She will go potty outside and she will also use a peepee pad if needed. She has never had an accident in her foster home. Libby sleeps soundly in her crate at night. She doesn’t like to go on walks (perhaps she had enough walking when she was living on the streets!).

Libby is being fostered in the DFW area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at HTTP://www.chihuahua-Rescue.com/adoption-application/

Libby is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $324.75 adoption donation required ($300 adoption donation and $24.75 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
