Even though I look like a purebred Presa Canario, I am actually a mix of American Bulldog and Presa!
I am 2.5 years old and I tip the scales at about 115lbs.
Like many dogs of my breed, I can be aloof and a bit cautious when I encounter new situations and people. A home that will give me plenty of time to warm up to new humans and environments would be the best fit for me. Once I feel comfortable, I am very easy going and sociable.
At my previous home, I lived with another large dog and several children. I think I would do well in a home with children over 10, as long as they weren’t too loud or rambunctious and had some previous experience/training with big dogs.
Although I don’t seem to care about any of the other dogs at the Bullpen, I’ve really only interacted with my brother, who is also a giant breed. Even though we love each other, we play really rough. Therefore, if my new family has a dog, it would ideally be a laid-back female that weighed more than 80lbs.
I’m not really sure how I feel about felines, but I DO sometimes like to bark at the barn cat here at the sanctuary. It’s possible that I could learn to be a friend to felines, if we are allowed to meet slowly and with supervision.
The words that best describe me are sweet, affectionate, and playful.
My favorite things are napping, playing in the yard, and hanging out with my people.
I am housebroken, crate-trained, and I know how to use a dog door. I also know basic obedience and several tricks, and I’m pretty good on a leash!
I am fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped.

We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you are interested in is a good match.
Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a perfect placement so we know that they will not be failed again.
