My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jerry, a black and white Shih Tzu, born 4/21/10, was finally released from a lifetime of servitude in a puppy mill on 3/4/21 and he is ready to find a loving home to enjoy his remaining years living the life he so deserves. He had a significant eye ulcer when first rescued and our vet was not sure if it would heal. But thanks to the diligent care of his foster mom administering drops around the clock, it did heal, thank goodness. Jerry always has grins and wags for everyone at the vet’s office and thinks that going to see the vet is a fine social outing! Jerry has no teeth, so he gets to eat canned dog food which he thinks is a good deal. Jerry weighed 10.6 pounds on 5/21/21. He is good on a leash, travels well in a car, even though he hates having to ride in a crate, which we do for safety reasons, absolutely LOVES to be right by your side and will be an awesome companion. Jerry is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick medication to maintain his good health. Due to his advanced age, he will not be considered for homes with young children. Jerry is currently being fostered in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $400 which includes a $145 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Jerry and provide him with a dream retirement home the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
