My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm Leo. Like a Lion, but not like a fierce lion, and not like a cowardly lion. But like an old, chonky lion at the San Diego Zoo who just wants to lay in the sun or on your lap. I'm seriously the coolest, most laid-back dog. I'm mostly potty trained, but I'm an old man and sometimes wee happens. Seriously, that "no worries" vibe is my whole demeanor. There seems to be nothing that bothers me. I don't think I'd like small children only because I can't keep up with those young whippersnappers. Dogs, cats, most grown hoomans: I think I'll be good. I'm cool in the kennel but do not like to be away from hoomans. Have I mentioned my pink floofy bed? I LOVE it. Like realllly love it. I think I may have found my soul mate, she's just disguised as a pink floofy bed. Here are all my issues: I've got some hearing issues like most elderly gents; need to take allergy meds; I have two whole teeth, so soft food is a necessity--and I eat my meals alone, no critters, no hoomans, The vet in Texas where I hale from thinks maybe I have testicular cancer, but I lost my family jewels, so hopefully that took care of that situation. I DO NOT like to be alone, so retired or work from home adopters are a must. Now to the big (pun intended) issue: I've put on some pounds in my old age and in the covid quarantine so I'm super chonky. If I were a band, I'd be Superchonk or Fat Sabbath. Because I'm a chonkasaurus, going up and down stairs is not an easy task, so I need a ramp, or no stairs, or have to be carried. But hopefully that will change as we work together to give me more years to my life and more life to my years. Can you give me the best rest of my life? Leo Chonkasaurus is a male Dachshund, weighs 28 lbs and was born approximately 3-12-07. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventive, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & started on preventive. He also had a full dental done. Adoption fee is $100 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, please complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
