My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie is a three year old, 70ish pound lab mix and she is ready to be your new best friend. She was found dumped in a small town in rural Tennessee with her four puppies. She came to rescue with some scrapes and abrasions that are likely the result of keeping her pups safe from predators as they didn’t have a scratch on them. She was an awesome mom but is now enjoying being loved and cared for instead of trying to care for puppies on her own. She is in foster care and doing well. She is shy at first but once she warms up she is the sweetest girl who wants all your love and cuddles. Dixie doesn’t appreciate rude dogs who come up to her unannounced or want to share her food with her (I mean, who does like any of that?) but she does enjoy playing with her foster brother, Bud, on her own terms in the back yard. She also really enjoys following her foster dad around like it is her job. Overall, her foster family thinks she’s one of the best dogs ever and be a great companion for her adopters.

This dog is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested positive for heartworms and has been treated in our care. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.
If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 12pm-2pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
