Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gaston is a 2 year old, 90lb (needs to gain 8-10lbs), neutered male Cane Corso. Gaston was rescued out of a Texas shelter where he was impounded as a stray. Gaston is a very athletic, active dog who loves to play with toys. He will need a strong leader to help show him structure, routine and manners. Gaston is polite and playful with both male and female dogs. Gaston's size and playful energy can be overwhelming to some dogs so we are recommending no small dogs. He does play very well with a 30lb female puppy but she plays very vigorously too. He has a high ball/toy drive, fetches and knows “sit.” Slobbers! He will need a fenced yard in his future home with a 6' fence.
Crate trained
Jumps in the car and rides well
Walks loose leash!
Takes treats gently
Seems potty trained so far
We are looking for large breed experienced adopters who are familiar with the Cane Corso breed. We do not know how Gaston does with cats or kids. If there are kids in the home we would recommend they be 12+ years old. This is because he can have a high toy drive and tend to try to snatch toys from adults hands and we think this would be hard to manage with small children who tend to run and carry toys and food. We just have never seen him with kids. He is a friendly, happy dude though and we don't think he would be adverse to kids, just that he would need manners instilled and boundaries set. We can cat test him if needed.
Cane Corsos are large, active dogs who tend to drool and can be high drive. They benefit tremendously from owners willing to commit to regular training to help with structure in the home. We are looking for an adopter willing to at least enroll in a basic obedience class with Gaston.
Gaston is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.
