My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Guinness
Nicknames: Flopper. Dude. Munch. Monk.
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Age: 3 Years
Sex: Male
Current weight: 60 lbs.
Before OMD: Stray. City Shelter. Pictures and video posted online. Our crew fell in love.
Motto: It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
Descriptors: Loving. Sweet. Handsome. Strong. Smiley. Best friend forever material. A good boy.
Energy level: High. He loves runs, walks, zooms around the backyard, and playing with his toys.
Clinginess: 100/10. If he could physically attach himself to you, he would. There is no “you” and “him,” only “we”.
Method of self-care: Full body massages. The moment he thinks your hand is coming, he flops to the floor, belly side up.
What we love most: How he leans in for pets and plants himself right on your feet. When he puts his head on your lap and stares up at you for pets. When he makes himself into kidney bean shape as you give him a good side petting. See a trend here?. When he tries to sleep on your head. Okay, maybe we don't really love this the most...
Manufacturer warning: He snores. It has been described as “a jackhammer outside a hotel in NYC.”
What makes us laugh: His sheer determination to bury his bone in the carpet. He purrs like a cat.
Favorite toys: Ones with squeakers. Which promptly get de-squeaked. Rope toys for tugging. His stuffed rat...the rat does not get chewed. It just goes everywhere with him.
His thoughts on food: Picky at meal times but all about treats...unless treats are veggies and then Guinness likes play "which vegetables does Guinness like" with his foster dad. So far, none really.
Knows: Sit. Stay. Come. Laydown (almost).
Working on: Confidence when he meets new people, especially men — a few high value treats go a long way. Leash manners — he's very strong and very overstimulated on leash when he sees a dog or something exciting. Read: he loses his sh*t and sounds and acts like he's being tortured.
Dogs: He has met multiple dogs, large and small, and ultimately he’s done well, but intros can be tough due to his current leash antics.
Cats: Nope.
Kids: Older kiddos are best (12 +) since he's a like a bull in a china shop and still learning boundaries.
Crate trained: Yes. He may protest at first and might de-fluff things in his immediate proximity to let you know he missed you but crating is highly recommended. He is mischievous if left to his own devices.
Ideal Family: Humans who appreciate a forever shadow and a home where someone is there more often than not. Stage 5 clingers don't love being alone all day. A fenced in yard would be a game changer but his people should also be fully committed to working on his leash behaviors and impulse control when he is out and about. He has the makings of a breed ambassador, but needs some guidance getting there.
Guinness is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. He’s available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from Omdrescue.org.
