- It's been a while folks, but I am still with foster mom and dad awaiting the perfect forever home. They don't mind that I am still around because they say I'm the sweetest dog they have ever met. I think I'm pretty darn good, too.
A lot has happened in the last few months around the house. We had another foster come into the home that I just absolutely adored. She was a young girl with lots of energy and she loved to play. This actually got me playing and enjoying her company very much. And biggest bonus of all - she was potty trained and helped me learn what going outside is all about. While I still haven't mastered the "outside potty", I am getting better at it every day. But I do still have the occasional accident inside where I miss my pee pad. Now my friend and playmate has found her forever home, so I am back to trying to learn on my own (with foster mom and dad's help).
I did have a little health scare that has turned out not to be much of an issue. I was sick one night and vomiting and coughing. Foster mom got me to the dogtor ASAP and I had an X-ray that showed a collapsing trachea. This caused much concern, so I was taken back in for another X-ray about 3 weeks later to see how we should address it. Fortunately, my trachea had opened back up was no longer a concern. The dogtor says it was likely aggravated by the vomiting, which caused the coughing and concern. That was good news, but then the dogtor discovered my enlarged heart. Maybe that is why I am so sweet ? Dogtor is not concerned about it, but hit a girl where it really hurts and told me I needed to lose 2 pounds! So now foster mom and dad are limiting my food intake to help me drop those 2 pesky pounds. We have also discovered that like most Texans , I do have a bit of an allergy problem which we are easily managing with monthly allergy shots and Benadryl as needed. The dogtor says it will be very important for my allergies to be carefully managed to avoid future trachea issues.
Well, that is about it for me right now. If any of this sounds like I might be the perfect companion for you, please fill out an adoption application using the link below or email foster mom and dad directly.

Dear Future Family,
My name is Ginger Snap and I am the newest addition to the United Yorkie Rescue here in beautiful Leander, TX! I came into foster as a surrender from a friend of my original owner. Unfortunately my original owner passed away and left me and eight puppies behind. Luckily for my puppies, my owners friend took them in to find them homes and then surrendered me to the UYR. I am six years old, weigh about 11 lbs., and just recently had my teeth cleaned and got spayed. My life has consisted of being a breeder mom. I was one of the lucky breeder pups though, in that I was very well taken care of. I have had eight litters of puppies over my six year life, but have now left that behind since being surrendered and spayed. I am in perfect health, but do have protruding nipples from nursing so many puppies. But that doesn't affect my health, disposition, or loving nature. Since I spent my entire life indoors being a breeder, I only know how to use puppy pads to go to the bathroom. Foster mom and dad are working with me to get used to doing my business outside. I also have three other pups in the house to help with the routine. I am the most loving little girl you will ever encounter. I want to be next to you all the time, love belly rubs, and will actually climb up your chest to give you a hug. I have not meet a stranger and get along with other dogs. I do command the attention and will nudge in between the other pups in the house to be sure I am getting all the attention. For this reason, I may be best in a home with no other pets, but can get along with them as long as the others don't get jealous of my constant need for attention. I don't care to be left alone and will cry if I'm separated from my human. Ideally, my new parents will be home most of the time to ensure my needs are met. I sleep in the bed with foster mom and dad all through the night, and don't care for crates or cages.
If you are looking for the most loving and loyal companion to add to your family, please fill out an adoption application at unitedyorkierescue.org using the tab under my "Looking for Love" profile, or contact foster mom and dad directly at uyryorkielovetx@yahoo.com.
Anxiously awaiting to hear from you so we can get our lives started together.
Love,
Ginger Snap
