My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Taylor
Alias: Taylor Swift
Breed: Little Brown Dog
Age: 1 year
Sex: Female
Current weight: 30 lbs.
Before OMD: Transferred to our crew from a partner rescue after she was found as a stray.
Descriptors: Happy. Spirited. Independent. Curious. Athletic. Affectionate. Energetic.
Out and about or Netflix and chill: Out! She’s a nature lover — always ready to explore and dedicated to consistent bird chasing. She can also run like the wind and needs built in zoomie time every day.
Energy level: High. A fenced in yard and daily energy burning sessions are a must. Walks and hikes are great too, but they won’t cut it as her sole source of exercise.
Mortal enemy: The dog that looks strangely identical to her in the mirror. Even barking doesn’t scare her away.
Her favorite things: People. Scampering, dashing, running, frolicking. Her Kong tennis ball. End of day snuggles.
Our favorite things: She loves life. She barely sheds. She never begs (#morethanwecansayforourdogs). She’s the perfect size. She’s uber smart. Her eyeliner is always perfect.
Stranger danger: Nope. She greets everyone with exuberance; a swirling bundle of tail wagging and nice to meet you licks.
Talkativeness: Appropriate. Occasional warning that a human is approaching her house. A small protest when heading into her crate. A happy squeal when she sees other pups.
What she knows: Come. Sit. No.
What she’s working on: Stay. Settle. Leave it. Four on the floor. Leash manners (but making huge strides thanks to her Gentle Leader) and containing squealing on leash when she sees another dog. Puppy nibbling.
Slow learner or quick study: Lightning-fast learner. She picks things up quickly and she almost always catches on after only one correction. Plus, she’s highly food motivated and loves to please her humans.
Aspiration: Agility training!
Dogs: It’s complicated. She’ll sass a dog who is too submissive but too dominant doesn’t go well either. She has done well with some male provided the meet and greets are gradual and off leash. While ultimately it will be easiest for her to be an only dog, we think she could live with a tolerant, balanced male when introduced properly and given appropriate transition time and boundaries.
Cats: We are assuming no-go on cat friends.
Kids: Older, sturdier kiddos only. She’s high energy and super affectionate and could easily (but unintentionally) knock a little one down.
House trained: Yep with a consistent schedule.
Crate trained: Sure is.
Ideal Fam: High energy, on the go and looking for a copilot and partner in crime for daily adventures. Must be dedicated to continued socialization, training, lots of exercise and mental stimulation plus end of the day cuddles before bed.

The Fine Print: We do not have the capacity to answer questions that have already been addressed in our bios. Please read thoroughly prior to sending inquiries. Please do not send an inquiry simply to tell us that you submitted an application or that you are interested in a dog. However, emails further detailing why you would be a good fit are always welcome! For those of you reading this on Petfinder and / or Adopt-a-Pet, inquiries submitted from these platforms are not applications. You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption, which can be completed on our website. If a dog is still posted, we are still accepting applications. We will update the post when applications are closed. If you have an application on file, no need to submit another. Simply email us and ask us to re-label your application. We are not a first come, first serve organization. We read every application to find the best fit for each of our dogs, which takes time! Please be patient with us.

Taylor is spayed, vaccinated, heart worm negative, and microchipped. She’s available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from Omdrescue.org.
