Foster Homes Needed!

Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog?

*****************

Gemma is a very special dog who, despite her striking good looks and calm demeanor, has been waiting a long time for her forever home.  Gemma requires a child-free home with an experienced dog person (she is especially at ease with women), needs to be a solo pet (prefers to be your one and only) and she should have a fenced yard where she can comfortably and securely receive exercise.  She is an anxious girl, but will be a very loyal companion for the right person who can provide her the commitment she deserves.  She is about 4 years old and her history is a mystery as she was originally a stray.  Gemma wants to trust and love and could flourish with the proper attention and guidance.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our process is the application which can be completed either online or at one of our adoption events. We would then conduct an interview with all members of the household. We do a vet reference if applicable, and lastly, we do a home visit. Our adoption fee is $285 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all required vaccines, tested for heartworm and tickborne diseases, and on year-round heartworm preventative. Lastly, all dogs are microchipped.

More about this rescue

Mutt Love Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the Washington, DC, metro area. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.

We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog beyond the adoption process.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.
