Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Don’t let her sad eyes fool you, Scottie is a spunky, sweet, crazy young beagle girly who is about 1 yr old, 20lbs and is ready to be adopted! Scottie is everything we love about beagles which means she is full of trouble & full of love!
Scottie will need an experienced dog, preferably beagle/hound owner that is prepared to train a young beagle as Scottie can be destructive when left to her own devices (she loves stuffed anything…RIP so many dog beds). While sometimes destructive, Scottie is never aggressive with toys, food, treats, people…she just likes to make a mess of anything with fluff or might be yummy that is left unattended like shoes, scrunchies, books, etc. To make up for being a little devilish girly, Scottie is also a huge cuddle bug that loves to lay on or near you when on the couch or in bed.
Scottie will need a pup sister or brother as she finds a lot of comfort in the other pups in the house. She is either always playing or sleeping next to one of them (usually the other young beagles). Since Scottie came in with her sister as an ex-hunting beagle, we believe Scottie finds other dogs as a security blanket as well as the ultimate playmate. Even with plenty of playmates here are rescue, Scottie has a ton of energy which would be hard to relieve without a fur bother or sister.
Scottie knows her name and basic commands, she walks well on a leash with a harness. Scottie needs a well-secured fenced yard as when she escapes, she is small, fast and hard to catch. There have been a couple times where we have spent several hours playing chase when she snuck out the front door in between people. Scottie is crate trained and will spend the night on her crate without a peep but tends to make some noise when put in her crate and her people leave the house.
Some of Scottie’s quirks are that she loves making noises at herself in the mirror (maybe she knows she is gorgeous and just wants to tell herself all about it), she likes to sleep in weird spaces (like our flowerpots out back) and makes quite the ruckus while playing, though she sounds a little more like a baby cow than a young beagle girl.
Please message our page or email us at HeroHoundRescue@gmail.com if you think you might be the perfect family for our Scottie!
