My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gericho is an approx 8 month old staffordshire bull terrier mix who came in with his siblings, Shea, Tab and Liz, also listed. Gericho and Shea have the longer legs and build of the staffordshire bull terrier while Tab and Liz have the shorter legs and longer body of the dachshund. Gericho weighed 36.4 pounds at his vet visit on 5/5/21. He should be a medium sized dog full grown. The pups came to us from the daughter of an older lady who gets a lot of strays dumped on her. She is not able to care for all of them properly but does try,so her daughter contacted us to see if we can find good homes for these pups. They are typical puppies who love to run around, play and get attention. They are pretty energetic, especially Gericho, and do need some training since they were in a "pack" type situation and really have not had any training of any kind. Learning basic manners, such as not jumping, and getting crate/housebroken will be some of the things that should be expected when giving one of these pups a home. Although raised around other animals, they are alittle unsure at first about other dogs and may growl until they see that they are OK. They have not shown any signs of insecurity around people. They should do fine with cats since they are still very young. A slow introduction would be recommended just because we are not sure if they even know what a cat is but puppies usually are very accepting of everyone in the home once socialized with them. Socialization is always recommended for our dogs and puppies as many either have not been socialized at all, have limited social experiences or are shy and uncertain in new situations. Socializing a dog or puppy will help them to become comfortable with anyone and in any environment which, in turn, helps them to become the best dogs that they can be. With the energy level of these pups,an active home/family would be ideal. They love kids and the daughter's children did play with them when they were at their grandma's house so kids to help tire them out would be great or other dogs that can match their energy level. A fenced yard or the ability to give them a good deal of exercise is also recommended. Because of their breed mix, these pups may be stubborn and will need a firm, dominant owner that they will respect and listen to. Obedience training by the adopter or in a formal class will also help them to become the best dogs that they can be. The pups are very friendly and sweet natured but are higher energy so if you can't match their level, they may not be the right pup for you. It is important that any adopter be prepared to put in some level of training and work to ensure that these pups grow to be awesome dogs that everyone just loves to be around! If interested in giving Gericho his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Gericho's adoption fee will be $175 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us.
