My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at www.seniordoghaven.org under the Adoption Process tab.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Pepper is ready for her forever home. She is a special needs dog. Please read her entire bio so you can learn all there is to know about this amazing pup.

Miss Pepper is a 10 year old, 15lb miniature poodle mix. She is one of the easiest dogs. She is housebroken and does not need to be crated. She is so sweet and gentle. She loves everyone she meets from humans, dogs, cats, anything! Basically, if it loves her, she loves it. She has a slow pace to life and loves to relax. Pepper loves to sleep and snuggle. She is happy to lay with her person on the couch or bed but also can find her own bed and nap by herself.

Pepper is blind but that doesn’t stop her from exploring. She figured out her fosters house within a day and navigates around with very little difficulty. She would do best in a home without a lot of steps due to her blindness. Pepper loves to go for sniff walks so she can explore at her own pace. One of her favorite things is to roll in the grass. Well, she really likes to roll just about anywhere. Especially after mealtime.
Pepper also has hip dysplasia. It doesn’t cause her many issues but she does wear hobbles on her legs. Her hobbles keep her back legs close together so she doesn’t splay them apart and pop the hip out. Her hobbles do not stop her from doing anything, she doesn’t everything pretty much like a normal dog.
Pepper has been shown to have a murmur. She was evaluated by a cardiologist who diagnosed Stage B2 mitral and tricuspid valvular insufficiency. She will need to be kept on Vetmedin and follow up with the cardiologist in 6 months to monitor for any changes. Her medication costs around $60 a month.
Overall, if you are looking for a very sweet, calm dog to join your low key home, Pepper may be the perfect fit!
