My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie and her newborn pups were found as strays by a kind citizen who took them in to get them out of the cold. Her landlord did not allow pets, however, and she had a limited time to keep them. She reached out to us for help and we agreed to take the whole family into rescue. All of the pups have been adopted and now it is Dixie's turn to find a loving family!

Dixie is estimated to be around 2.5 years old. She weighs approximately 40 pounds. She is very sweet and gets along with everyone she meets. We did a DNA test on Dixie. Her breeds consist of: 50% Mountain Cur, 15.7% American Pit Bull Terrier, 14.2% Catahoula Leopard Dog, 7.7% Boxer, 3.3% German Shepherd, 2.8% Rottweiler and 6.4% Supermutt. She is very beautiful and is a sweetheart. She has what we call a "reverse brindle" coat and she is very striking. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind dog, this girl is it! She has done great meeting new people on her foster's property given a little extra time to check out someone new. She loves to play with other dogs in her foster home. She would really enjoy having another dog in her forever home that likes to play as much as she does. She is great at keeping the yard free of deer and squirrels when she is outside and makes sure they don't get into foster mom's vegetable garden. She will chase cars so she will need a fenced-in yard at her forever home.

She’s kennel trained and fully house trained. She loves a car ride and loves to watch her foster mom working in the kitchen. She also loves stuffed toys and will happily romp around the house by herself playing with toys. She’d do well in an active and interactive family. She loves playing with puppies and still very much acts like a puppy. She has done fine with the cats in her foster home.

Dixie's adoption fee is $350. She has been fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Dixie is currently in her foster home in Sheridan, TX and will remain there until adopted.
