My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they have been adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org
"O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
What’s in a name? That which we call a 'Flower'
By any other name would smell as sweet;"

Shakespeare, please excuse me taking literary license to make one small change to this famous quotation!!!

My name is Flower, and I am a very SWEET girl...ok, I mostly smell sweet when Foster Dad bathes me, but my personality is always sweet!!

I am very proudly a Staffordshire Terrier.....again, don't let the name give you a misleading impression of me....A dog breed by any other name would not be sweet as me!! I am amiable, submissive, and very accommodating.

And, look at my happy smile!! I have been smiling since Foster Dad picked me up from the shelter. I was brought to the shelter as a stray, and soon became a favorite of the shelter staff. This particular shelter has a very high euthanasia rate due to limited space to house doggies. However, the staff was so taken by my sweet personality and happy smile, so they held me over for three months waiting for me to get adopted. It was actually my last possible day at the shelter when my Foster Dad came in to rescue me.

I am a very intelligent little lady, too. Foster Dad was a little upset when I mistook his shoe for a chew toy, and I have been trying to win his approval again by bringing him tokens of affection (bones, balls, etc.) and cuddling him to get back in his good graces. I have also been sitting in front of him with my best smile to win him over!

On my first night "home" with Foster Dad after my experience at the shelter, I sat for several minutes "talking" with Foster Dad and thanking him for rescuing me. I was trying to communicate by making a low pitty purring sound expressing sadness from deep within my soul. He recorded it, and it makes other hoomans cry when they view it. I was just letting him know I appreciated being rescued...geeesh!! You'd think a dog had never said "thank you" before.

At 4 years young, I have attained my full adult weight of 50 pounds.

I now make little happy snorts and grunts to express how ecstatic I am to be living a normal life and to be loved.

Did I mention that I am a champion snuggler? I will cuddle up and snuggle for as long as my hooman has time to hold me. I am also good at giving kisses!! Slurp!!!

Foster Dad took me to the dog park and I had a blast. I was playing and friendly with everyone, until a little Boston Terrier came at me barking. I high tailed it back to Foster Dad and hid under the picnic table until the little culprit was secured.

I am a well mannered little lady, too!! I sit and wait for my breakfast bowl to be served and don't bother my Foster brother dog when he eats his food.

My "Before" life may not have been the greatest, but I bear no grudges and am a joy filled, grateful, and happy companion.

So, whether you are named Capulet or Montague, or some other name in between, I hope that you read my bio, adopt me, and we will be life long friends.
