Luna is a 2 year old white female with natural ears and beautiful blue eyes who is deaf. She's a big girl, weighing in at about 160 pounds. It's easy to forget Luna is deaf because she is so good at looking for cues. She's well-trained on hand signals, and is not at all shy about being in the middle of things. She is very affectionate, and is terrific with kids. She is great with the other danes in her foster home, but needs to be with large dogs only. She doesn't like small dogs due to a bad experience with a terrier. She also needs to be in a home without cats. Her favorite pastimes since arriving at her new home are following her foster dad around, playing outside with her foster brothers, and lounging on the sofa. Luna came to MAGDRL in October 2009.

Update 12/15/09 - Unfortunately, Luna had to leave her foster home after an incident with her foster’s more dominant male dane. Luna has been consistently great with her foster's other dane, a submissive male. Being deaf, she needs to be with a companion dog - she just needs that companion to be a large dog who will allow her to be alpha. She is friendly and outgoing with people, and is truly excellent with kids. She's extremely gentle when she plays, despite her size. She's very smart, and has been obedience trained since puppyhood. She’s also very, very playful. She loves to romp outside with the other dane, and can entertain herself for hours just throwing and catching her rope toy.
