My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AWL'S LONGEST RESIDENT - MEET MESSY
Messy aka Missy is a senior 9 year old pit bull terrier that's been at the Animal Welfare League since 11/21/2018 (2,044 days = 5 years 7 months)! Messy is a staff favorite and SO deserving of a loving home! Let's find Messy a furrever home to retire to and enjoy the finer things in life like a nice comfy bed. Messy is not a messy girl. She keeps her kennel nice and tidy. Messy gets super excited for walks, but quickly gases out and realizes life is more about smells and rolling around in grass. Messy is free spirited with a fun loving personality. Messy LOVES to be brushed, scratched, and will gladly sit for treats. Messy would thrive being queen of the castle (preferably as a solo companion with no other pets) in a loving home, possibly an older couple with a fenced in yard. A meet & greet of all family members/pets is required to ensure Messy is a good fit. Messy is available for adoption, to foster, or just simply going out for walks (with signed waiver & 18 yrs. or older). If interested in fostering/adopting Messy (even short term to give her a vacation), please call the shelter 765-362-8846.

Additional adoption info

The first thing we require the Adopters to do is fill out one of our applications. Once they get that turned into us we call landlords, vets, and references and check to make sure their animals have all been up to date and make sure their landlords( if they have one ) are okay with them bringing home a new animal. We also call the references to make sure they are good animal owners. We will also look at whether or not you have a fenced in yard and how big your yard is ( if adopting a dog). We want to make sure we have the best fit home for the animals. All of our animals have their boosters (adult or puppy). Some are fixed and some are not. We do have a spay/neuter trailer that comes to the shelter at least once a month that spay and neuters our animals.

Go meet their pets
