My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome guy has been patiently waiting for his family. Brutus is a very smart dog and already knows many commands. He is a larger breed and would do best with an active family. Brutus loves kids and plays well them. Brutus sometimes forgets his size and strength when walking on a leash and would benefit from some leash training.

Brutus is not a fan of small animals (cats, rabbits, etc.) so he will need a home/environment without them. He is also a jumper so his future family will need to be mindful of that. If you are looking to add another fun member to your family please contact the shelter to make an appoint to see Brutus.

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
