My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spotlight on Diesel: A Senior Pup Seeking a Loving Forever Home

Meet Diesel, a charming senior pup who is ready for a fresh start. After eight wonderful years with his family, Diesel found himself in our rescue when they welcomed a new baby and could no longer care for him. ??

Though Diesel is entering his golden years, he's far from slowing down. This delightful goofball still has a playful spirit and a love for life. He adores his toys, relishes long walks, and is always up for a tasty treat. His enthusiasm for these simple pleasures reminds us that age is just a number.

Over the past five months with us, Diesel has become increasingly sad in his kennel. His longing for a loving home where he can feel truly cherished and at ease is evident. Diesel's second chance is crucial, and he needs a home where he can flourish once again.

Diesel would thrive best as the only pet in a household. He's looking for a loving family who can offer him all the attention and affection he deserves. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a heart full of love and a playful spirit, Diesel is the perfect match.

Please consider giving Diesel the forever home he so desperately needs. Adopt him today and provide this sweet senior with the happy ending he's been waiting for. He's ready to bring joy and love into your life!

More about this shelter

Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.

What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.

Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.

Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.

Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.

Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
