My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Miss Lola! (Drawing done by Rihanna Cruz, 7th, grade art class at Kreps Middle School )

UPDATE: Miss Lola has come a long way.. she just graduated from her rehab classes and is ready for her forever home. This cutie is 1.5 years old, spayed, and loves to play and cuddle.. Oh, and yes, she is dog friendly!

Miss Lola's story:
Lola had a bit of a sad start in life. She was left out on the street for a few weeks to fend for herself. Lola was very thin, probably 20 lbs underweight, the weather was cold, rainy, and snowy - not what you would want for your "best friend". In desparation Lola crawled up on someone's front porch. The kind gentleman saw her, picked her up and brought her inside while he called animal control. Animal control picked her up and took her to the shelter. All was going well, she tolerated all the handling for vaccinations, flea treatment, medical exam - no issues. She was behavior evaluated 4 days later, she failed. She bit the fake hand that tried to take away her food, please remember she had been hungry for a while and was very under weight. She also failed the "stranger test" someone in a hoodie, cap, glasses and a cane. All of sudden she was flagged unadaptable. The shelter sent out notices to the local rescue groups to see if they could help, AFEW pulled her and sent her to a board and train facility. She was allowed to decompress for two weeks and fed a number of times a day. Lola was introduced to many staff members and made a bunch of new friends. She was also introduced to a few of the canine residents and also made friends there too. She was introduced to a cat, and she did well but every cat is different. Lola is now ready for her new home. We would prefer a home with older children 10+. She responds well to love and attention. She is a good girl who just needed a chance, can you do that for her? Once she trusts you - you have will have her love for life.
