Pork Chop
Available:  Yes
Gender: Male
Age: Approx. 11 months
Weight: Currently 55 lbs
Breed: German Shepherd/Husky (DNA Tested)
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Adoption Fee: $250.00 (plus tax)

Foster Location: N Ky.   Applicants must live within 2 hours of Florence, KY, no exceptions.

Cats: He has a very high prey drive so no cats for Pork Chop!

Home Recommendation: Single Family. Fenced yard.  While he doesn't bark much, he does howl at times, and that wouldn't be good in a home that shares walls with neighbors.

Kids: He's never met any.  He's got a German Shepherd type temperament so he's slightly wary of strangers (but never shown any signs of aggression), so not a good match for a home where young children live or visit frequently.

Crate Trained: Yes!  He especially likes it if he's given a Kong filled with kibble.

Potty Trained: Just keep him on a schedule and he's great!

Dogs: He loves other dogs.  He's a bit rough for the little ones, but a nice medium to large size dog who isn't too rough (he's a bit of a hypocrite and doesn't like dogs doing to him what he does to little ones).  Pork Chop would love to have a dog friend in his forever home.

Leash Manners: He does well on a leash.

Pork Chop came to us at 4 months old when he'd been hit by a car.  The result was two severely broken legs and the owners weren't able to pay for the orthopedic surgery needed to save his life.  Our vet was able to piece him back together and he's now as good as new.  When you see him run and play, you'd never know anything happened to him.

He adores *his* people and wants to be near them.  He'll tolerate just about anything once he trusts you and he's incredibly sweet. With strangers, he needs slightly slower intros but is willing to take treats from new people, so a home with a lot of visitors isn't his thing.

He's a "soft" dog, so if your plan is to use aversives in training, you'll need to continue your search because Pork Chop isn't "the one".  Eager to please and willing to learn, when there are treats involved, is more his style.   He is so smart too.

There's no nice way to say it, NO birds or small critters (including cats) for Pork Chop.  He catches and kills birds and other wildlife in the yard of his foster home and we're not going to risk your beloved pets.

If you’re interested in meeting this amazing pup, please fill out an application at www.pawprintsnky.com.

His listing will be removed as soon as he has an approved application

Most importantly, please be honest!  We have many people tell us what they think we want to read, not what's truthful.  If there are discrepancies, your application will be denied.  It's important for us to place dogs in a home that's suitable.  You may be a stellar owner but possibly not a good fit for the dog you were first interested in adopting.  We're not trying to offend anyone, we're trying to set everyone up for success.    We're a best fit rescue and will verify your vet and personal references.
