Mello is a tan with white socking male believed to be a terrier mix. He was born about February 16, 2018 with a bob tail that gives a unique look. Mello and his 3 siblings were turned over to a shelter in West Virginia. They came to Hart on 5/12/18 and was adopted to a family that returned him to HART because he picks and chooses who he likes from children to adults.
Mello is a very nice dog that likes to follow you around and be with you, he is loyal and protective of the people or dogs in his pack. He loves to go on walks and walks well on a lead, but can be reactive to other dogs he encounters, have been working on this behavior and he is improving. He is robustly house trained and doesn’t require a crate, but does well in a crate if necessary. He likes to sleep with his owner and is very good through the night. He enjoys a fenced yard where he likes to lay and watch the world around him. He is a laid back dog that will match your level of activity from walks to watching movies on TV.
Mello is stand-offish when he meets new people, but if they ignore him he’ll warm up slowly. As noted, he is protective of his human or dog pack and will protective them from perceived threats, which is widely interpreted by Mello. This is why we are suggesting that he be adopted by a person that doesn’t have children around very often and wants a loyal protective companion.
Mello is a medium sized dog who weighs 40 lbs. and is 3 ½ years old. He is short haired, robustly house trained. Mello is a very lovable pup, intelligent, does well in the car, and well trained on basic commands and is easy to have around.
