Salem is a Shiba Inu/Yellow Labrador Retriever Mix. He is Yellow and White. Salem is 3 Years Old. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. He weighs around 35 lbs.
Salem is a "wiggle my bottom" type of boy! Salem was first picked up as a stray in a rural high kill gassing pound. He was brought here to the rescue where he was scared of everything. He would shy away if you even touched his collar, he didn't want to come out of his crate. Then over time and being in a home environment, Salem has turned into one of the happiest dogs we've known. He constantly wags his tail whenever he see's people or dogs now. He loves to run around the house looking for someone to come up and give kisses to. He has also learned that leashes are great things that take him to new places around the yard. He adores lounging with other dogs and hanging out. He has come such a long way in such a short time and he really is a great happy boy. He loves to jump up on the couch with Lucy our boxer and cuddle with her, they both are "wiggle-bottoms" so they get along great! Salem is finally happy being Salem! He has become a polar opposite of what he was like when he first came here, and now he is really ready to find his forever home!
Salem would do well in any household. He loves adults, kids and other dogs. Salem is also completely crate trained and about 90-95% housetrained, and that just takes into count him going to a new home with a new schedule. He likes to Bark/Woo to let you know he has to go out to potty. He has learned how to go up and down stairs now and doesn't have a problem running down them with you. He likes to go for car rides and snuggle up against someone while going somewhere new. Salem also adores food and treats, so a great way to train him to do basic commands or reward him for being such a good boy is to give him a yummy treat! Salem has already turned into such a wonderful good boy that we know that in his own home he would become even more open and loving with his forever family!
Salem is not aggressive with other dogs, he has been with small, large, young and old dogs.
At the rescue we require dogs to be kept indoors.
There is a $100 Adoption Fee for all dogs. Which includes the Spay/Neuter, Parvo/Distemper Combo Shot, Rabies Shot, Worming, Heartworm Tested Negative if over 6 months and Flea/Tick Prevention.
