Dazzy came to Fuzzy Pawz after being rescued from an abusive home. She has a sturdy body with short legs that results in the cutest little waddle when she walks. This little sweetheart needed surgery on both eyes for cherry eye that had not been treated for years – it was pretty awful and very painful for her – but the surgery went well and she is doing great. We also had to have a dental done and some teeth removed.
The cherry eye did leave her with dry eye so she will need some medication in her eye daily, but she accepts it very well. Dazzy is still shy and nervous around strangers and hides her face when introduced to new people. She has a few quirks probably due to her previous home but nothing that a little understanding and love won’t take care of. For instance, when you approach her from the front to pick her up, she will back away and prefers to be picked up when you approach her from the side or back.
She will bond faster to females, is house trained and loves to cuddle. Dazzy does well on walks and when she has not seen her foster mom for a few hours she does her happy dance and wants to be picked up and loved on for a little while, then she settles back down. Dazzy can get a little vocal at times when she wants in your lap, picked up or she knows her human is getting ready to leave her at home alone for a while. Good on car rides if she can see out a window or be near her human.
Dazzy has some insecurities and wants to always keep her human within sight and at night wants to sleep right next to you. Once she bonds with you she will be a very loyal companion and after what this little one has been through she deserves to be spoiled and loved a lot for her remaining years.
Dazzy gets along with the other dogs in her foster home but would do best with a submissive dog or the only dog as she wants to be the alpha dog and boss any other dogs she is around. She has been around a cat while in her foster home with no problems. Due to the abuse this little one has had in her life we strongly recommend only mature children over 12 years of age.
