Here's what the humans have to say about me:
WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA
This very handsome Husky boy, whose name may relate to a Japanese comic hero Sir Nighteye, has come to rescue through no fault of his own. Although we don't know how he ended up in a shelter the first time, the second time was due to his owners not being able to keep him per their landlord.
Night Eye is a very friendly and sweet Husky. We are not certain how mischievous he is when left alone but he is crate trained and just needs a little motivation to get in. He is currently being crated since there is a cat in his foster home and he has shown some prey drive so we need to ensure everyone remains safe. Therefore, he cannot be adopted to a home with cats. However, he gets along well with other dogs.
He walks well on leash and doesn't pull. While he loves playing with toys, he’s not a big fan of sharing them, so that will need some work. As with the typical Husky personality, he is stubborn. When he doesn't want to do something, he will drop to the ground and be completely dead weight making it a challenge to get him to listen and cooperate.
Night Eye just needs a strong adopter to work with him in establishing what is acceptable and what is not as he adapts to his new environment. Once Night Eye has time to adjust to his new home with his new owner(s), has consistency and obedience training he will become a great family member.
Healthwise, Night Eye is Heartworm positive and has started a Veterinary treatment protocol. Depending how this treatment proceeds, it will be up to the adopter to continue the regimen, or, under a Veterinarians care, administer the medications. SHRF will provide instructions and cover the costs of the Heartworm treatment. This boy is young and otherwise healthy, so we expect a full recovery as long as the treatment is continued.
Night Eye is housebroken, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. After some bad luck and through no fault of his own, this boy deserves a loving, forever home; you will be repaid with the typical affection and loyalty that Huskies are famous for.
