FOXY ROXY SEEKS OLYMPIC TRAINER AND WALKING COMPANION.
Cheerio! The name is Roxi. I am a spayed nine year old English Bulldog. I am up-to-date on my shots, heartworm free and will come with a microchip. My vet thought I was much younger when he met me. Heck, I don’t act or look my age! I appear much younger because I am training for the Olympics in 2012 in London. That is if they let dogs compete. But don’t count on it, look who they picked for 2016! I am 64 lbs. of muscle. I am thinking of being in the decathlon. I came from a home that did not have the time to walk me enough so I’m getting lots of that now.
Walks are my favorite time to look at and stalk squirrels! I love to explore my new neighborhood. I am even acclimating to the dreary fall weather. It is like this in England too and since I’m an English bully, I’m used to this. My foster family just wipes me down if the walk is in the drizzle. Did you know that I am related to the Queen Mum and am third in line for the throne behind Wills and Andrew?
I have the manners of a proper English lady. I listen well and know ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘cage.’ I get off the couch when I have managed to be caught on it. I love to be around my foster family. I have not had any accidents in my foster home. What I don’t love? Living with other dogs! I lived with a bully brother for years and frankly, I’m done with that!
Since I am a bigger (as in taller) bulldog and have a longer snout, I kind of look like a boxer too – depends on the angle. But I can assure you that I am a bully. I guess my parents weren’t the most beautiful, but I know I am.
You need to keep up with me on walks. My foster mom is getting her exercise 3x a day. I get so excited to take a walk. I see my leash and turn circles.
I could use some work on jumping on people when I first meet them. I think a nice training class would be great. I am a people pleaser.
I am looking for a forever home to be a close companion to. I am sure that with the right family I will also be wiggling my little brown behind.
I have to go – go for a walk that is. Would you like to be my trainer for the 2012 Olympics? I could use your help – they don’t let me train by myself!
Love and licks,
Roxi
NOTE FROM THE HUMANS
Roxi’s adoption fee is $350. Our adoption criteria for Roxi are as follows:
- CEBR Adoption Radius Only. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- A family willing to commit to my daily walks. They are so good for me!
- A family happy with only one dog, me! I was raised with a brother dog and I want to be the center of your world.
- A training class might be good to teach me not to jump. Or, just buy the book by Monks of New Skete and check out their training techniques!
- A fenced in suburban neighborhood would be ideal. I love to be outside!
MORE ABOUT CHICAGO ENGLISH BULLDOG RESCUE
We are a pure-bred English Bulldog rescue located in the state of Illinois but serving the Midwest. To determine if you qualify to adopt one of our adorable bullies view our
Adoption Criteria and Adoption Area Map.
We serve Chicago-proper and the surrounding suburbs, Illinois, Northwest Indiana, Southeastern Wisconsin including Milwaukee and now will accept intakes from Ohio and Missouri.
CEBR’s Directors and core volunteers are members of the Bulldog Club of America and the Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. What that means for adopters, surrendering families and shelters is that our bullies get the highest level of care and commitment. They spend their time with us in foster homes where they get daily love and attention.
We are an Illinois licensed shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. The care we provide our English bulldogs includes a high quality diet, the best veterinary care around (from a bulldog specialist!), and behavioral evaluations of the highest quality. Each of our rescued bullies typically costs CEBR more in care than the adoption fees we collect – on average $536 per bully. Your contributions to help care for our bullies would be so appreciated.
