My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cupcake is a female two-colored Syrian hamster with medium-length fur. She and several other hamsters were rescued from an abuse situation where they all lived together in a small and unsuitable habitat. Syrian hamsters must live alone in a suitable cage and have access to bedding, toys and enrichment.

Cupcake is curious and interactive. She is comfortable being picked up and held.

*Cupcake went to the vet on March 30th and was prescribed eye drops for eye irritation. Her eye looks wet in a couple of her photos due to the drops. The drops will be finished on April 6th.

We follow guidelines as recommended by the Hamster Society of Singapore which currently requires a minimum cage size of 40cm x 80cm or 620sqin, in contiguous floor space. The bigger, the better.

Additionally, we require a wheel that is at least 10 inches, as hamsters' backs must be straight when running. Other necessities can be found on our website but include high quality pellet food with a supplemental seed mix, sandbox with repti-sand or sterilized play-sand, enrichment opportunities, and play-pen access.

Please be prepared to provide photos of your habitat and habitat accessories.

Given that anesthesia is risky for small mammals, hamsters are left intact. However, breeding is absolutely not permitted and you will be required to enter into a no-breeding agreement.
