My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Ethel is the lucky recipient of a grant from one of our supporters that has donated toward her adoption fee. Thank you for considering this ray of sunshine!

Ethel is such a great little mama dog, her foster family says. She's a squish, super friendly, and loves a good back wiggle on the ground where she squirms like a little worm! Eth relishes her outdoor time- she lifts her nose like a periscope to catch the smells that waft by and digs for acorns with the expertise of a truffle dog. In traditional dachshund style. she can make a mean little bed for herself, getting her bedding just-so before settling in for a good snooze. She is very comfortable with other dogs and people, and she is also fine around children who understand how to treat a small dog with respect and gentleness. She's blind, but independent and super happy to be with family. She would make a wonderful addition to a calm household seeking a precious and calm companion.
What to know before applying for Ethel: Little lady is completely blind. She had a mammary mass removed with clean margins. With no teeth, she needs soft food.
If you are interested in adopting sweet Ethel, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Ethel's adoption fee is $200. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. All of our dogs will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and all other medical needs addressed. Almost every single dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
