Rocky is a recent addition to our Safe House, joining us from an over-crowded rural shelter in Oklahoma. Given that Rocky is a “Big Black Dog,” his chances of getting out alive were slim.

We at BAARK do not think Big Black Dogs should be euthanized because of their color. Rocky, like all such dogs, deserves a wonderful, committed, loving home of his own; he has plenty of years ahead of him and deserves to spend each day of that time living his best life ever.

Rocky is estimated to be about 4 years old, weighing 58 lbs. He is a calm, gentle, cuddly boy, but he can be playful and silly when he wants to be. Being a Shepherd, He’s VERY smart and needs a family who is “Shepherd-smart!” He is good with other dogs and prefer adults like himself. And he absolutely loves people.

Rocky longs to be part of a family of his own and would enjoy someone around most of the time. He enjoys walks and car rides, and lounging in the sun….and hanging out with his people. Rocky does fine with other dogs and could do well with another adult dog, or as an only dog.

Rocky is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round preventative.
