My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 04/23/2010: Happy Spring, everyone! This is Reggie's foster mom, and I wanted to update all of you on the miracle that is our Reggie. Reggie was rescued from certain euthanasia in September. He was in pain from a herniated disc, afraid of loud noises, scared to be left alone, uncomfortable from overgrown hair and nails, and completely unable to control when and where he pottied. He is a brand new pup today! Reggie is, as they say, a study in contradiction, and what you see is definitely NOT what you get with this little guy. Reggie is 5 years old, but he runs and plays like a puppy. He weighs 11 pounds, but he tucks into your arms like he's half that size. Reggie walks like a drunken sailor, but he races across the yard with his fur brothers and sisters like a surefooted greyhound. Reggie's teeth are a little funky, but they are clean and he has a mouthful of sweet kisses. Reggie loves to follow you around, but he is content on his pillow in his x-pen. He can't jump on the couch, but he waits patiently for you to lift him up. He still needs a little patience and structure in the potty department, but he has come a long, long way. Reggie has been abused in the past, but he is ready to forgive it all and become the prince of a stable, adult home. Reggie is probably blind in one eye, but when he looks at you, he'll see past all your flaws. If you'll look past his and open your heart to him, he will shower you all the love he has waited his whole life to give!

UPDATED BIO 03/21/2010: Hey! Happy Spring! It's me, Reggie, back with my latest update. Some things are the same...I'm still 5 years old, still about 11 pounds, and still looking for love! So what's new? My 'do for one! Foster Mom had the groomer come give me a "big boy" summer hair cut. I sure do love it! I've got a new spring in my step and a new wiggle in my walk! I am so much stronger and braver than I was when I got here, and I am ready for my Forever Family! I like to run outside and play with my foster brothers, and I like to sleep in a cozy bed. I'm a super sleeper all night. I'll bark if a stranger comes around, but otherwise I'm pretty quiet. I'll come over for you to pet me and pick me up for a kiss, and I will jump for joy whenever you come in! Then I'll follow you wherever you go. I don't like you to leave me alone for too long, and I like to be on a consistent food and potty schedule. I'd like a kind fur brother or sister to play with because I love to play "tug-the-ears" and "keep away the squeaky toy" - nobody snippy or too dominant, please. I am still scared of stuff, and I haven't completely forgotten all the bad things that happened to me before I got here. I AM ready to trust people again, and I'll give you all the love I've got. If you are patient with me, I'll be patient with you! So, if you are looking for a Forever Friend, I may just be your guy! Give my Foster Mom a shout, and she'll see if we're a match!

UPDATED BIO 02/11/2010: Hi, everybody! It's, me, Reggie, stopping by with an update... If you forgot, I'm 5 years old and 11 lbs. Foster Mom says I am doing just great! Once I got out of jail (crate rest for my back), she really got to see my personality. She calls me a "funny, quirky little guy", but she's smiling, so I think it's a good thing! See, I didn't have much of a chance to learn how to be a puppy, so I have my own way of doing things. I can't help it if I like her or foster dad to stand near me while I eat. I got left alone before, and I'm not taking any chances on them getting away. Most of the time I can let them out of my sight as long as I can tell where they are in the house. And who knew you were only supposed to potty outside all the time? I am really getting the hang of it though. Just don't leave me alone for too long. My favorite stuff is playing with my foster brothers (the sisters are snooty). We wrestle and play with the stuffed squeaky toys and run up and down the back yard. The best part of the day, though is when Foster Dad comes home and plays soccer with us. Even though I really like it here, I sure do want parents of my own, and maybe a brother who's about my size to play with. I need somebody who's home most of the time so I don't get scared, and somebody who will pick me up (because I can't jump) and let me watch TV on the couch. Mostly I just want to hang out with you and keep you company! If you are looking for a guy like me, let FM know!

OK, Reggie's FM here. Reggie seems to have been abused in the past. As a result of trauma, he is probably blind in his left eye. This does not hinder him in any activities, and whatever he suffered before has not dampened his spirits nor his love for people. He has come a long way since he came into UYR, and he has a lot of love (and kisses) to give. Reggie needs a stable, patient forever home so that he can continue to blossom. Because he is easily frightened by loud voices and quick movements, Reggie cannot be adopted into a home with children.

UPDATED BIO 12/6/2009: Reggie here! Hmmmm.... Nothing new. I'm still 5 years old. I'm still 11 lbs. Oh yeah... I'm still cute! Anybody out there wanna cutie-patootie like me? I love to run with my furbrothers and sisters. I am hanging out, waiting for someone to find me and think I would be their perfect special someone. Thank you for reading about me. All my Yorkie Love, Reggie.

UPDATED BIO 11/6/2009: I'm Reggie! I'm a handsome 5 year old 11 lb boy. I'm sorry I haven't had time to update my adoring fans, but I haven't been able to get to a computer. I've been locked in a crate for 5 weeks! Seriously! OK OK. Before you call PETA, let me explain....

My Dogtor did an Xray to check and see why it is I walk like I'm doing the Harlem Shuffle. He said that I may always walk like that and that my hips were OK. It was just a matter of aesthetics (whatever that means!) and that if people love me, they wouldn't mind my funky swagger. However, he did see that I had a slipped disk and that it was causing me to fall down every once in a while. So, I've spent 5 WHOLE weeks on bedrest, receiving steroids and getting better. I was so sad and pathetic in my little cage, my FM almost cried every time she looked at me. I tried to be understanding, but I just love to run and play. It was awful. BUT NOW I'M FREEEEEEEEE!

I just got out of the crate after 5 weeks on Monday. I do have some separation anxiety at night; so,I really think I need a mommy or daddy that will let me sleep with them at night. I am getting another evaluation for my knees which might need surgery. I think the call it luxating patellas. (all these medical terms.... I need to be a Dogtor to understand!). My knees slip. That's all. I love other dogs and love to run and play (oopsy, did I say that already?) As for cats, the jury is still out. No cats in FM's home let me near them. I THINK I would do OK with cats.

Well, I know that's a lot to take in. I am going to have FM take a video of meso you can see me in all my glory. I really would love a FURever home. My FM rescued me from the shelter where I was going to be PTS. She says I deserved a chance. I once had a family, and even had a microchip. My owner never responded to the shelter's calls or letters. I am trying to put that past me and realize there are more loving people out there who are willing to adopt an imperfect dog. Aren't we all a little imperfect? Well, if you're a special person looking for a special guy, look no further :)

UPDATED BIO 9/15/2009: Reggie is a 5 year old 10.8 lb blonde Yorkie Boy.... But no Blonde jokes here! Reggie is very smart. FM is impressed at the fact that he is 100% housetrained and lets her know when it's time to go outside to potty. Reggie gets along well with dogs and has started to play with his Fur-siblings. He basically ignores the cats, which the cats appreciate. Reggie went to the vet today for a checkup and for Xrays to determine what is going on with his legs/hips. He has some luxating patellas. However, he runs, plays, and walks just fine and doesn't appear to be in any pain at all. It's just that his legs don't move exactly how they're supposed to. It doesn't bother him, and it's not very noticeable, but we wanted to make sure everything is OK. Now we are awaiting an ortho consult to be sure all is well!

Reggie is a sweet little boy who is still adjusting to his new foster home. He loves to follow his person around and loves to walk on a leash. He has a small spot on his right eye that was likely an old eye injury. However, he sees and gets around just fine. Please consider giving Reggie a chance. He just wants a family to love on him! Do you want to love Reggie? We know you do!

ORIGINAL BIO 9/12/2009: Meet Reggie! Reggie is a 5 year old Yorkie who weighs 11 lbs and is the latest sweetie-pie to be rescued from an area high-kill shelter. Reggie is being fostered in Davie, FL and will be ready for adoption once he has a much needed dental cleaning. Reggie appears to get along very well with dogs and cats. He does have a minor abnormality with his hips. He walks and gets around just fine as he has learned to live with this problem. He will be going to the vet this week to get Xrays to determine if this is something that needs to be corrected. He does not appear to be in any pain at all. FM thinks it's cute that he sort of walks with a swagger in his step! He's an adorable little boy who so deserves a FURever home. Stay tuned for more on Reggie as we get to know him better.
