My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little McDonald came to us after animal control was called out to save a puppy dumped in someone's pasture. McDonald was emaciated and suffering from a bad case of Demodex Mange on his face. In two weeks his mange is treated and his hair is growing back; check out his before (pic 4) and after pics.

What we've learned about McDonald is that he's an 8 week old Pyrenees that is the typical fun loving, not a care in the World puppy. He loves other dogs, learning cats don't play, friendly and social, crate training and house training. We've also noticed he is hearing impaired. We don't know if this has to do with all the swelling in his face due to the itchy mange mites and will get better or if's permanent so we've started teaching McDonald all his commands with hand signals vs voice commands. His adopter will need to be prepared to continue training so please read up on or talk to your trainer or vet about deaf dogs' needs.

The best home for McDonald will be an adult family or with older kids that he would not routinely spend long hours alone. He would also love a dog buddy/s and having another dog would also help him compensate for his handicap.

We expect that McDonald will be ready to leave us about May 7th. He will have had all three sets of his puppy vaccines, neutered, dewormed, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting this sweet pup and being his fur-ever family please apply at www.nationalpyr.org
