My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Up for adoption in Texas: Maya.

She is about three years old and weighs 55 pounds.

She is an adorable, sweet girl. She loves people and attention. She enjoys playing outside in the sunshine.

Maya is good home alone and doesn't get into anything she's supposed to. She walks pretty well on a leash but could use a little fine-tuning.

She is smart too! In fact, she typed up this bio for you all to read:

"I can get excited and start to pull but if my foster parent stops walking for a second, I stop immediately and behave because I love walking! Ideally, I would love to learn to jog with my human. I am very smart and would catch on quickly.

I sleep on one of the big dog beds by the fireplace or on the loveseat in the living room. I know the word “kennel” and will go inside when my foster family tells me. I do whine if I know someone is home because I want them to know that I would rather be outside playing or getting pets from my humans.

I was scared when I first arrived but in my foster home, they spoil me and let me know I am a good girl and loved. I need a family that will be patient, loving, and provide training. I need positive reinforcement, love, and training with a family who will teach me to be my best self and how to fit into my new family.

I would do well in a family with another playful dog around my size. I love my fur foster brother. But, my new family will need to introduce me slowly to any new fur sibling and let me get comfortable and secure in my new surroundings. At my foster home, I have four canine foster siblings. I was scared at first and I sometimes still guard my food bowl but my foster parents just tell me “no” and I either eat the rest of my food or they put my bowl up until I am hungry. I’m not fond of cats and prefer to chase them, so a home without cats is a must. I can play rough, and guard my food, so my ideal home would have no children under 13 years old."

Maya is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and housebroken. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com
