Meet Canelo!

Canelo is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix who was brought to a local shelter with severe injuries to his hind legs. His back legs dragged behind him and he couldn't bear weight on them. He had large wounds on both legs that we think were caused when he dragged his body around.

His wounds are now healed and his back/legs have improved. He is now able to stand up from a sitting position, bear weight on his hind legs, and can even take a few steps. His improvement has been progressive with time.

This is what his foster mom says about Canelo: Canelo LOVES life!. He loves to play! He loves his toys and balls. He loves zipping around in his wheelchair. He loves sitting on my lap. He enjoys hanging with my personal pack of dogs. He can move fast and quick even with only two front legs. He is terrified of fireworks and loud noises that he is not familiar with. Canelo loves his human.

We're not sure what the future holds for Canelo but our goal to get him to reach his fullest potential, whatever that is for him, and to find a loving forever home.
