Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jet is a handsome boy with the sweetest eyes. He has had some sadness as of late and unfortunately ended up needing help finding his new forever home.
Jet was very bonded with his previous guardian. They would snuggle, go on daily long walks together, and were all around best friends. Jet loved his family but his dad was his person even though he had no idea that his dad is truly a hero to so many. Jets dad was part of the Crisis Intervention Team who served the first responders in New York City after the 9/11 tragedy. Unfortunately like so many who were there that terrible day he has been battling cancer and as he began to face the end of his fight he could, sadly, no longer be around his best buddy. Jet's mom, who is a caretaker for her dear husband, only wanted the best for this wonderful boy and reached out to us for help. We are happy that we are able to give Jet's dad the comfort of knowing that his best friend will be safe, cared for, and loved no matter what and that we find him the perfect future.
We knew this transition would be confusing for Jet so he is staying with one of our wonderful foster parents and this is what she had to say about him:
"He's gorgeous! Everyone comments on how beautiful he is. He is showing some herding and watch dog behaviors very common for his breed, and while he does alert bark sometimes overall he is quiet in the house. A fenced yard is a plus and he really loves hanging out on the deck. He does need some training on the leash but a front clipping harness does help and he really enjoys long walks. He would probably enjoy an active family but so far has not needed as much exercise as expected.
He has been doing very well in the home and does seem to be house trained. He will require grooming and he loves being brushed.
He has been picky about meeting other dogs so far but can be walked with them. He does not enjoy car rides, which make him very nervous, but this may improve with time and training.
If he makes it to bed first he will hog the whole thing and really likes sleeping with his people."
This wonderful boy has been through a lot and we want to make sure his future is bright, joyful, and full of love. Due to his size and herding behavior we do not recommend a home with small children as he could be scary for them.
If you would like to meet this special dog, please email dogs@lunashouse.org to set up an appointment. Please be patient to hear from us as we are all volunteers and may not be able to respond immediately.
Our volunteers make sure just the right home is chosen for me so they require a home visit to make sure there are no safety issues that could hurt me. You must live within a 50 mile radius of our location in order to be considered.
The adoption fee is $250 and includes vaccines, flea prevention treatment, neuter/spay, and micro chipping. Like us on Facebook!!
Disclaimer:
Visual breed identification in dogs in unreliable, for most of our dogs we are making the best guess at what the predominant breed or breed mix might be. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each dog based on personality and temperament, not breed label.
