Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Message from Bacardi:
I'm still patiently waiting for my forever home. My foster mom says I'm a really good boy, but have some pretty specific requests for my forever home. I need someone who will be with me all the time while I learn it's ok to be alone and that I won't be abandoned. The rescue people can help you with a trainer if you need. I already met one once, she said I was a good boy and gave the rescue people homework for me.
I have good reasons for my requests. My first family left me alone at the house and they never came back. I ended up at the shelter. Everyone there took really good care of me, but it sure wasn't like living with a family. Then I got in a van and traveled. It was a really long ride, I wasn't sure what was happening. I arrived at a new shelter which was more like my house. It wasn't long before I went home with a new family. Yay! I was really happy. But, things didn't work out so I was brought back.
Now you see, this is a lot for a dog to go through. I've been abandoned, travelled, adopted, returned, moved from place to place and now I'm afraid to be alone. When I'm left alone, I cry, bark, whine, and try to get out of my crate to get back to people.
At night I go to my foster home and I love it there. I'm learning the routine and foster mom says I'm making great progress. I sleep in my crate there and have no problem with that. They are able to leave me for short (very short) periods of time and I'm learning they'll always come back.
Foster mom says I'm dog selective, whatever that means. So I will need to meet any dogs that are in my new home (maybe a couple of times) to be sure we're a good match. I'd be fine if there were no dogs at my new house too. Right now I'd prefer no kids under 13 at my new house. I do like kids, but the little ones can be a little crazy if you ask me. For now it will be better for me to be with no kids or older kids so I don't get too overwhelmed. I'm not sure about cats, I've never met one. Maybe we should skip the cats too.
I know these are big requests, but look at me, I'm a handsome boy. Foster mom says I'm 100% housebroken! I know how to sit too! I like to go for walks- they say I'm very easy to walk, easier than my foster dog siblings even! I hope I'll find a family soon so I can settle in and "live the life I was meant to live"
We know Bacardi isn't the right dog for everyone, but for the right person/family he going to be an awesome companion. If you think you meet Bacardi's requirements please fill out an application.
