Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Thomas - Take My Lead Dog
Poor sweet Thomas was found as a stray with lots of horrible wounds. The kind folks at Pawtucket Shelter helped him to recover, and though we speculate the wounds were dog bites, we can't be sure. Thomas served out his six-month state-mandated quarantine at the shelter. Our volunteers visited with Thomas, reading to him or training with him from outside of his kennel run.
Thomas completed his quarantine and has been spending time in foster care with me, Heather. I am a dog trainer and behavior consultant. Thomas and I have been working hard to get him ready adoption. He comes with FREE group class and private training once adopted.
Thomas is very fearful. He is still learning that he no longer needs to be afraid. No one and/or nothing will hurt him ever again! Thomas will likely always be a fearful dog. He will need a very patient person to help him feel safe. His adopter will need to understand that he will progress at his own rate and that his progress may be slow. Once he gets into a routine he is much more comfortable.
Thomas is an absolute doll. He is wonderful, sweet, and adorable. He's good with other dogs but does not like to share his stuff so would do best in a home without other dogs. He has been great with cats.

The transition into an adoptive home will be tough for Thomas, especially at first. We will likely need to do a slow transition to help him feel as comfortable as we can.
