Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Benny, a sweet 4 year old and 10 lb chihuahua pug blend that is a cuddle bug. Benny’s current owner found him on the streets of Richmond last year and while he has come a long way he needs more support that they are able to provide at this point.
This sweet boy does great on a leash, is crate trained and is housebroken! He does however guard his crate and his food bowl. A firm no, and patience to desensitise him is required to manage his guarding behavior. Please note Benny can bite if pushed too far, an experienced owner is required who can read his body language and show him what is appropriate!!
Benny has experience with dogs, both large and small, and does well with them! He would do best in an adult home with experience handling fearful dogs, kids are not recommended due to his guarding tendencies. Benny does great with the cat in his current home.
Benny adores sleeping in bed with his person at night, and cuddling, running in the back yard and play wrestling are some of his top favorite activities! Benny doesn’t really play with his canine companions and as such would do well with either a laid back canine sibling or as an only dog.
Benny recently stayed with one of our fosters for a few days and while he mostly kept to himself in his safe area unless racing outside to investigate the backyard, by the third day he did come out of that area to get some pets and cuddles in the living room. He reliably went outside without issues in the fenced back yard, got along with a house full of chihuahua’s, and was less reactive after a few days. Benny will take weeks or possibly months in a new home with the right leadership before he is able to feel safe enough to fully relax.
He is UTD on shots, on HW preventative, and neutered.
His adoption donation is $250.00.
If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.
To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.
Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.
Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, TN, AL, VA MD and GA
