My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET SUGAR! *Member of COEL's Shy Cats Club*

Sugar sure lives up to her name - this sweet girl is around 10 years old and spent her entire life outdoors but as she began aging, her community caretaker volunteer noticed she seemed to be having troubles with her mouth so decided to bring her to a vet to get checked out. Turns out, she was desperately in need of help treating some no-good painful cracked and infected teeth after a lifetime of no dental care. She reached out to City of Elderly Love and we were happy to help Sugar get the care she needed.

Since having her dental issues addressed and recovering, Sugar has really come out of her shell and really seems to enjoy the indoor cat-life so we'd love for her to find a loving retirement home instead of having to spend another hot summer or freezing winter outside. While sugar is apprehensive in new situations and in new settings and may hide around new people initially, she's actually a little love muffin once she's settled in and has a chance to adjust on her own time! She loves head rubs and will knead her little paws in delight while weaving in and out of your legs while greeting you after a day at the office. Sugar will do just about anything for some tasty food! She is currently in foster care with other cats and dogs. She enjoys the company of other cats and steers clear of the dogs. As a member of our Shy Cats Club, we think she'd be happiest in a quieter home without young kids and rowdy dogs. She'll need a patient adopter who won't mind her hiding initially and begin interacting more and more over time. Based on how she's settled into her foster home over time, we know she'll be your little best friend!

Sugar is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also FIV/FeLV negative and recently had a dental cleaning with extractions.
